This is a class especially geared towards singers who are interested in Getting Started in VO. In this class, we will examine not only the Basics of reading voiceover copy, but also how singers can apply the skills that they already possess to get a leg up on the business.
We will cover:
- How to understand copy and how it's written (What is the client trying to sell and how is the copywriter trying to say it?)
- The difference between reads — announcer, conversational, narration
- Understanding different types of copy and how to approach each one: commercials, promos, industrials, audio books, etc.
- The Basics of Auditioning
- The Music of Voiceover
- Breaking down copy more specifically — feeling the beats (set up, body, conclusion)
- What it takes to get started in the business
- Equipment and self-recording
- Putting together a demo
- Going after work
- Seeking representation
- Discussion/Q&A
